Evelyn wanted to draw some packaging so we went to McDonald’s and KFC. It looks like a lot but actually the apple pie came in the bag. I like drawing things with typography.

I meet some French backpackers here and he liked my drawings so much he asked to draw one in his sketchbook. I drew the lamb burger bag as apparently they don’t have the lamb burger in France. I also did a quick portrait for him. Better than a postcard any day right. What is the most unique souvenir you have gotten?

Fed Square, Melbourne

I really like my converse shoes. Actually I like shoes in general, particularly colourful ones. I just felt like drawing them so as we were in a very quite area with few people around I decided to sketch them.

South Melbourne Town Hall

We decided that the South Melbourne Town Hall was worthy of a meetup. I found it quite challenging will all the details. In the future I would suggest details. Oh and I would take a chair as the concrete was hard.

WHO IS 73671?

We were hoping to do a bit sketching out on the wharf but the wind was so chilly it just cut right through. I did a few sketches of people and then we found this do sitting on this chair. It was some kind of a pit bull I think. The owner was no where is sight and it looked so sad just tied up on its leash. We drew the dog which I am going to call “73671” as that was the number on its tag. We tried calling out different names and we thought it was a boy at first and then we realised it wasn’t. Lots of kids and people came by to pat it but it showed almost no interest in any of them.

Parking is hugely expensive in St Kilda so we had to move the car and we went to a chocolate cafe called CACAO on Fitzroy St. I think they have one of the best hot chocolates I’ve tried in Melbourne. There was this great modern-vintage styled bicycle outside and so I decided to sketch that and the menu board. I have a bit of a fascination with bikes at the moment. Maybe because I want to own one just like it.

botanical gardens urban sketches

First day of spring. It was such a nice day for sketching. It was the first time that I have been inside the Gardens. We found a nice warm and sunny spot and sketched some trees/plants. Then moved to a little pond area. I find trees and plants harder to sketch, probably as I don’t practice them enough.

Unfortunately my sketching was cut short as a friend had a bingle in her car (poor Eddie, that’s the car’s name not hers). She was fine but just needed a lift. Bonus part was that we stopped for lunch in South Melbourne and there was an Indonesian Festival going on so we had some local food.
